Home Remedies for Dry Scalp
Avoid harsh chemicals by choosing natural remedies for your dry and itchy scalp.
A dry scalp occurs when your body’s natural oils are insufficient to moisturize the hair and skin. This can
happen because of dry air, unsuitable products used on the scalp, or even a poor diet. Here are a few natural scalp
cures to put some moisture back into your scalp.
Natural Oils
Rubbing natural oils like jojoba oil, coconut oil, almond oil, vitamin E, and even olive oil are a great way to
moisturize a dry scalp. A scalp treatment once a week will go a long way to help the dry skin. Apply the oil
generously and allow it to stay on the scalp for 30 minutes. Then shampoo as normal and follow with a scalp
rub with just a little bit of the oil on your fingers.
Humidifier
Dry air can lead to a dry scalp. If the air in your home is dry, particularly in the winter, then use a humidifier
to add some moisture. Turn it on while you sleep and you should see a difference within a few days.
Diet
If your diet lacks proper nutrition then it is also going to have an effect on your hair and scalp. Be sure to
drink plenty of water and eat a well balanced diet of lean meats, whole grains, vegetables, and fruits.
Another tip is to take a look at the products that your currently use on your hair and scalp. Look for the
ingredient ammonium lauryl sulfate in your shampoo. This is added to make it soapy but many people complain that it
dries out their scalp. Opt for shampoos without this ingredient and see if it makes a difference for you.
