Panic Attacks In Sleep

How can I prevent a panic attack while sleeping?

Although panic attacks cannot be completely prevented, there are things that you can to lessen the likelihood of a panic attack, especially while you sleep. These are things that you can do right before bedtime as well as during the day.

Make sure you have a relaxing bedtime ritual.

This can be anything- a relaxing bath, some relaxing music, meditation, or even sex! You want to make sure you are in a completely relaxed and stress-free state. This means no talk about bills or work or any other problems that might be going on in your life. That might be easier said than done, but you just have to remember that bedtime should be a time for sleep and not for worry.

Watch what you eat before bedtime.

Avoid stimulants such as tea, alcohol, and cigarettes before you go to sleep. It's also a good idea to avoid greasy and fatty foods because your body will be expending a lot of energy digesting the food and you might even get heartburn!

Try some light exercise.

Notice the word "light." It's not a good idea to run 2 miles before bedtime, but a nice walk or some yoga or even lifting some weights to get your heart pumping can be helpful.

Try a calming herbal remedy.

Try a calming tea such as Yogi Tea Calm for Bedtime. It's all natural and designed be a relaxing sleep aid. You can also add a natural supplement to your daily routince, such as Pure Calm from Native Remedies. This is another all natural homeopathic remedy that can be used to treat symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks.
